Angel Tree Aotearoa

Angel Tree Aotearoa is a national programme for children who have a parent in prison.

The programme incorporates; a Christmas gift from their parent in prison, whānau/family camps, back-to-school support (stationery and fees), counselling and access to tutoring, access to health providers, whānau/families shared meals and experiences as well as provision of developmental tools such as dealing with bullying, anger management and stigma issues, self-esteem and Tree of Life counselling.

Angel Tree Aotearoa primary outcomes are:

  1. Seek to reduce the rate of children with a parent in prison ending up in prison themselves.
  2. Support whānau/families with resources, tools and knowledge to increase their resiliency.
  3. Increase community wellbeing, participation, inclusion and identity through our volunteers.

“I would like to thank you for the wonderful Christmas gifts my two young sons received this past Christmas via Angel Tree… It was special for them and for me, feeling I was supported in a society where ‘prison wives’ feel they don’t belong; and my husband is also so grateful for helping him remind his sons that he loves them and misses them. We were all incredibly touched by your kindness. Thank you so so much. May God bless you.”
